This medicine belongs to a class of medicine called cephalosporins. It is an antibiotic. used to treat bacterial infections.

Take the medicine as directed by your doctor.

Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

upset stomach
vomiting
diarrhea
stomach pain

Tell your doctor of all medications you may use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially of: live vaccines, other antibiotics. This drug may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills.
Diabetics should be aware this medication may cause false positive urine glucose

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center. In the US at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

This medication has been prescribed for this illness only. Do not save it and use it later for another infection or give it to someone else. A different medication may be necessary

If a dose is missed, use it as soon as remembered unless it is almost time for the next dose. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume the usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Cefuroxime is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication is known as a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.

After being mixed with water, this drug must be stored between 36 to 77 degrees F (2 to 25 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. This drug may be refrigerated. Discard any unused portion after 10 days.

Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, stomach or intestinal disorders, any drug allergies. Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Before using this drug, tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
