Albenza is used to treat infections caused by worms. Albenza is an anthelmintic. This medicine treats parasitic (worm) infections from roundworms, hookworms, pinworms, whipworms, threadworms and tapeworms.

Side Effects
Rare
Fever; skin rash or itching; sore throat; unusual tiredness and weakness
Other side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. However, check with your doctor if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome:

Over Dose
For USA residents, if you have used too much of your medicine, immediately call your local poison control center at
1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.
All other residents please contact your local emergency care provider.
Notes
For women of childbearing age, it is important that you use birth control while taking albendazole since this medicine can cause birth defects or other problems.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
Uses
Albenza is used to treat:
*Hydatid disease (echinococcosis);
*Infection of the nervous system caused by pork tapeworms (neurocysticercosis).
Other Uses
Treating certain tapeworm infections.
